This class will cover the same ground as the beginning defense course, but is also designed for the slightly more experienced player, perhaps with some duplicate experience, who may already know the basics of defense, but wants to improve his results.
In addition to reviewing the basics - opening leads, second hand and third hand play, defensive signals, and the like - we will also try to develop a defensive "ear" - finding killer opening leads and devastating shifts, counting and visualizing declarer's hand, improved signalling, when and how to "get active" or defend passively.
We will spend a good deal of class time playing hands, including some where the appropriate defense is not obvious, but can be worked out with sufficient thought - bring your thinking caps!
To sign up for this course:
Show up to class with a check for the appropriate amount made out to "David Metcalf"
