I have some additional information about your Me’ah class to pass along.
Thank you again for your commitment to Jewish learning. I look forward to seeing you in the fall.
Best Regards,

Instructors: Hebrew College has assigned your instructors:
Dr. Mark Leuchter will teach Bible and Dr. Shari Lowin will teach Rabbinics.
Both of them have received rave reviews from their prior Me’ah students and are young,
dynamic and very enthusiastic teachers. You will find the proposed class schedule below.

Summer Reading: I have suggestions from Hebrew College for summer reading in preparation for these courses.
First, for a general introduction to biblical scholarship you may skim Who Wrote the Bible by Richard Elliot Friedman.
Please don’t worry about reading it cover to cover; Mark Leuchter may or may not assign specific chapters in the fall.
Second, As a Driven Leaf by Milton Steinberg is a wonderful and very thought provoking historical novel about the
Rabbinic period; please read this in its entirety as I’m hoping we can get everyone together to discuss the book
(and maybe have dinner) prior to the orientation session.

Please let me know by email if you’re interested in participating in this book discussion.
In addition, the Me’ah program asks that all first year students purchase The Jewish Study Bible as background for the two-year Me’ah experience.

Website: Hebrew College uses a unique internet system for bringing you constantly updated information on your Me’ah class;
it has established a website for every Me’ah site. Whenever any new information is posted on the website you will be notified by email,
and directed to visit the website.
Here is some of the basic information you will find on the website:
