Terri Swartz Russell

Terri Swartz Russell is the Family Educator here at Temple Emanuel. Previously Terri served as the Family Educator of Temple Aliyah from 1996 through 2006.

Born and raised here in the Boston area, Terri earned consecutive degrees from both Boston University (B.A., magna cum laude) and Hebrew College (Bachelor's in Jewish Education). She attended Brandeis University's Graduate Hornstein Program in Jewish Communal Service and received her Master's Degree with a specialization in Jewish education. More recently, Terri returned to Hebrew College for postgraduate studies and received a Family Educator Certificate.

Following graduate school, Terri served as the Education and Youth Director for Temple B'nai Torah in Boca Raton, Florida. Upon returning to the Boston area, Terri served for five years as Education Director of Temple Beth Am in Randolph. She is past president and member of the New England Region Jewish Educators' Assembly.

In 1984, Terri joined the Bureau of Jewish Education as an Educational Consultant. She coordinated M'korot, the Jewish Resource Teacher Center of the BJE, and consulted to Religious schools in the Boston area. Terri is the co-creator of the award winning multi-media exhibit "A Walk Through Jerusalem."

Terri and her husband David live in Lexington with her daughters, Sara and Arielle. They are active members of Temple Emunah where Terri serves on the Religious and Social Action Committees and is a past member of the synagogue's Board of Directors. Terri was one of the founding members of the Billy Dalwin Pre-School of Temple Emunah as well as the founder of the pre-school summer camp. Terri's daughters are both graduates of Solomon Schechter Day School and the Prozdor of Hebrew College. While her daughter's were students at Solomon Schechter Day School in Newton, she served on the Educational Policy Committee and as lay chair of the SSDS Family Education Committee.
