“Love your neighbor as yourself.” “Proclaim liberty throughout the land.” The Priestly Blessing. In this class, we will look at several well-known and beloved biblical passages that illustrate important values of Judaism and are also used in many non-Jewish settings, religious and secular. We will study their original context in the Hebrew Bible, read rabbinical and other interpretations through the centuries, and discuss how these passages have come to be used by others in today’s world. Special attention will be given to the social justice and racial justice imperatives that they require of us.
Discussion time included.
Fee: $162 – Register Today!
This course is offered through Hebrew College’s Open Circle program.
