COVID-19 News You Can Use: What About the Kids? Mental Health in the Face of Omicron

As we find ourselves now in the 3rd year of the Covid-19 pandemic facing a surge in new cases, we are seeing new school, after-school activity, and social disruptions. How is all of this impacting our children and teens? What can we do?   Join us, as our esteemed medical panel will answer YOUR questions as part of our ongoing series of special programs on COVID-19. 

Dr. Steven Broder: Steven Broder, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Newton and Brookline, where he sees older adolescents and adults. He is an Emeritus Clinical Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology at Boston University, Wheelock School of Education. He has been active in Jewish education and youth work and has supervised or conducted thousands of psychological and cognitive assessments on children, adolescents, and adults. 

Dr. Eleanor Menzin: Dr. Menzin is a primary care pediatrician and the managing partner of Longwood Pediatrics in Boston. She is a member of the active staff of Boston Children’s Hospital and an instructor at Harvard Medical School. She has been active in developing safe protocols to assess and treat children and teens with COVID in the primary care setting.

Dr. Mark Poznansky: Mark Poznansky, MD, Ph.D., is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, an Attending Physician in infectious diseases medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and Director of the Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center (VIC) at MGH. The team at VIC and its collaborators in academia and industry are currently actively involved in developing a novel point of care test along with new therapeutics and a vaccine for COVID-19. Dr. Poznansky has been serving on health advisory groups for schools and other institutions during the pandemic. 

Dr. Sabrina Vineberg: Dr. Vineberg is a member of the Division of Emergency Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She works as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Winchester Hospital. For the last 2 years, Dr. Vineberg has been a member of the COVID Medical Advisory Committee serving the Jewish Day Schools of Massachusetts, helping develop protocols to keep schools open during the pandemic. Additionally, she has worked with several camps and sports teams locally to ensure that children can continue to participate safely in their favorite activities.
