Cynthia Ozick’s fiction is smart, witty, deep and intensely Jewish even when Jews do not appear in it. Her stories were greatly admired by Saul Bellow and Philip Roth, and inspired young writers, such as Allegra Goodman and Dara Horn. In this course we will read four stories by Cynthia Ozick and short works by the masters from whom she learned her craft, including Henry James and Joseph Conrad.

Course fee: $110 Temple Emanuel Members / $140 Non-members
