For experienced Mussar students
with Rabbi Eric Gurvis
This group builds on previous Mussar Va’ad experience in pursuit of this inspiring and rich Jewish spiritual discipline that helps us to nurture the depth of soul and spirit. In year 3 we circle back to a few middot (soul-traits) from previous years as well as expand our understanding practice with new middot to be chosen by the group.
Thursday mornings, 10 – 11:30 am

Winter/Spring: 8 Sessions: Jan 21, Feb 4, 18, Mar 4, 18, Apr 15, 29, May 13

Rabbi Eric Gurvis
is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, with a BA in Sociology and Judaic Studies, and was ordained as a Rabbi at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York. Eric has served congregations in New York City; Jackson, Mississippi; Teaneck, New Jersey; and in Newton, Massachusetts. In July 2019 he will begin serving Sha’arei Shalom – a Jewish congregation serving Ashland and Metrowest.
Eric has trained with The Mussar Institute and is a certified Mussar Va’ad leader. He has long been deeply involved in youth activities and Jewish camps, interfaith work, and Israel programming and education. Eric is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow of the Hartman Institute in 2013, where he serves on the Rabbinic Advisory Council. Eric and his wife, Laura Kizner Gurvis have four children and a grandson in whom they take great delight.
