Unlikely Partners for Peace
January 28 @ 7:45 pm - 9:15 pm
Join us as we hear an Israeli Settler and Palestinian activist in conversation
Temple Emanuel and Boston Partners for Peace invite you to join us Monday, January 28, when Shadi Abu Awwad and Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger will share their personal stories of transformation and cross-cultural partnership towards nonviolence and reconciliation.
Hanan is a self-described Orthodox rabbi, teacher, and passionate Zionist settler, while Shadi is the son of Palestinian leaders who were at the helm of the first intifada, and who grew up imbued with a deep hatred for Israelis.
Today, Shadi and Hanan lead an organization called Roots/Shorashim/Judur, a grassroots initiative fostering understanding, nonviolence and transformation. Shadi and Hanan are outspoken coexistence advocates who believe lasting reconciliation begins with building empathy and trust through open conversations.
A dessert reception will follow the program. Kosher dietary laws observed.
