DESCRIPTION:Sabrina Strapp (member of Temple Emanuel and co-leader of Tot Shabbat ‘22-‘24) is so excited to bring her collegiate a cappella group\, Mixed Company of Yale\, to the Temple Emanuel community! We are delighted to have Temple Emanuel’s own David Rosemberg opening our show with a performance\, followed by a showcase of our group’s favorite a cappella tunes. \nMixed Company is Yale’s oldest all gender\, all genre a cappella group! Their diverse repertoire ranges from pop and rock to jazz and show tunes. They’ve appeared on national television in China and performed in venues on five different continents\, from classrooms to thousand-seat concert halls\, entertaining everyone from preschool students to former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. This January\, they cannot wait to share their music with Temple Emanuel and the greater Newton community! Sabrina and David hope you’ll join us for a wonderful night of music and joy amidst these dark times for the Jewish people. \nWe hope to see you on January 7th!

You can learn more about the film here. \nYounger children can choose to participate in an interactive story-time during the film. Space-themed crafts and activities will be available to all. \nProgram is free of charge\, and RSVP appreciated. We are no longer taking preorders for pizza but a limited amount will be available for purchase at the event. \nRegister→ \nThis film is the story of how Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman realized a childhood dream by becoming an astronaut; how he was a key member of the spacewalking team that made critical repairs to the Hubble Space Telescope; how his own faith journey evolved as he took various Jewish objects on his five Space Shuttle missions; how his community came together to make it possible for that small Torah to be with him on his final flight\, when we read from the book of Genesis while soaring through space “In the beginning\, God created the heavens and the earth.”

SUMMARY:World Wide Wrap Learner's Minyan & Brunch
DESCRIPTION:For grades 5-8 and open to all!\nGet ready to wrap and roll! \nCelebrate World Wide Wrap Day by participating in the mitzvah of wrapping tefillin with our community. \n5th-7th graders and their parents are invited to a special learner’s morning minyan service followed by a bagel and lox brunch and learn. Students in 8th-12th grade as well as “curious-about-tefillin” adults are encouraged to join us as well. \n9:30-10:00 The wrapping begins\n10:00-11:00 Learner’s Service in Gann Chapel\n11:00-11:45 Brunch and Learn \n5th and 6th graders will use the tefillin they hand-make at Religious School prior to the program. \n7th graders should bring their tefillin they received their bar/bat mitzvah year as well as the tallit they made in 6th grade. \n8th graders and up should bring any tefillin or tallit they may have. Some pairs will be available to borrow. \nFor food ordering purposes\, RSVP is appreciated if you or your child are not part of the grades 5-7 Religious School community. Let’s show ‘em how it’s done! \nSkip the line and order your carnival games tickets in advance! Games cost 2-3 tickets per play. \nBuy tickets now! \nWe want all kids to participate in the Purim Carnival. During the Carnival\, we’ll have noise-canceling headphones available\, as well as a Quiet Room in Room 22 for any children who may need a little break from the noise and excitement. The room will offer calming activities to help everyone relax and recharge.
