I am thrilled to welcome you to our community here at Temple Emanuel. For me, joining a synagogue is more than becoming a member. It is truly joining in a shared journey with a kehillah k’doshah, a sacred community.
It is our members and the myriad of connections among and between them that makes our community so special. We encourage you to reach out and meet the many unique and diverse people who are part of our kehillah k’doshah. Young or old, married or single, with children or not, this is a place where you can feel you belong and we hope you too will find your place.
People join a synagogue for many reasons. Our seven gates are symbolic of our commitment to creating opportunities for everyone to find a way in. Whether through services, concerts, adult education, youth engagement, supporting Israel, or social action, we are interested in helping you to foster your relationship to Judaism. Temple Emanuel offers countless programs to enrich lives, deepen faith, and build connections. The goal of the Clergy, Staff, and Lay Leaders is to help enable you to engage with the community, explore your interests, and suggest opportunities for involvement in the synagogue. We hope that as new members, you will find at least one small way to get involved during the next year.
My enthusiasm for our synagogue and this community knows no bounds. We come to pray; we come to study. We come to support each other, in simcha and in sorrow. We want our children to come here, too, to ensure a vibrant Jewish future. We encourage you to “use” the synagogue to its fullest.
I truly believe that we are doing something of lasting importance for the Jewish people and for the larger community as well. The clergy and I look forward to getting to know you and invite you to reach out to us for any help, questions or just to chat at any time. We are here for you.
