Shabbat Talmud Study: Connecting to God Via Our Doubts

This week I experienced a psalm I never saw before. It was tucked away in the back of the siddur, far from our daily prayers in ordinary times. Somehow I had managed to not see it in fifty years of praying.

It is part of a cluster of psalms offered in a house of mourning. There, for the first time, I saw it and prayed it. It is a revelation.

This psalm is so different from any psalm you have ever seen.

It opens up a whole new world.   We usually think that our doubts distance us from God. But this psalm raises an interesting question:  is it possible that our doubts can bring us closer to God?

Shabbat shalom,
