Shabbat Talmud Study: The Single Most Clarifying Question if You Want to Avoid Shame, Disgrace or Drama

Shabbat morning, October 14, 8:30 – 9:30 am

I grew up in a home where if somebody Jewish did something wrong or embarrassing, my parents would declaim: it’s a shonda. When somebody Jewish did something egregious, it was shameful for the Jewish people.

I can hear their voices this week given the news coming out of Hollywood.

How do we not do that? How do we avoid shame? How do we ensure that we live a life that is peaceful and serene, filled with love and harmony, and free of shame, disgrace, or drama?

If you read our sources, biblical and rabbinic, if you read our prayer books, daily and holiday, it comes down to a single clarifying question. If you walk around with this single question, if you let your life be guided by this one question, you will stay far from shame, disgrace and drama. You will live a life of peace and truth and beauty.

Chag sameakh and see you Shabbat morning at 8:30.
