Rosh Hodesh: It’s a Girl Thing!

Rosh Hodesh: It’s a Girl Thing!

is a program designed specifically for young Jewish girls to build community, develop friendships, bolster self-esteem, gain leadership skills, and grapple with their Jewish identity together. Now, as this enormously successful program enters its seventh year nationally, it’s being replicated for girls of all Jewish affiliations.

Our monthly Rosh Hodesh gatherings provide an empowering, supportive environment for girls to explore the social and cultural issues they encounter as they transition into adulthood. In four groups divided by grade, girls draw from Jewish teachings and traditions to learn how to handle the challenges life throws at them. The program’s success is due in part to our mix of valuable discussion, role model group leaders, fun craft-making, personal story-writing, meaningful socializing, and of course, dinner!

Rosh Hodesh—the program and the holiday—celebrate perpetuity, how both women and the moon withstand life’s waxing and waning, peaks and plunges.
