Humans of TE: One Story at a Time – Michael O’Malley #TEGivesThanks #ComeHometoTE

This November, Temple Emanuel gives THANKS to YOU, our community. Join us each day as we highlight a fascinating member of our community.

Cantor Elias Rosemberg

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My family were musicians. My grandfather was a Hazzan and my father was a clarinetist in a Klezmer band. I started my career at the age of 18 working as a Hazzan in Buenos Aires and later worked as a wedding singer and on TV and radio in Argentina.

In July 2000, I moved to New York and in July of 2007, I became the 4th cantor of Temple Emanuel. I’ve been blessed to be part of the Temple Emanuel family for the last 13 years.

I love teaching students from all ages, and also love to be able to bring spirituality through music and prayer to all of our members.

I have had the blessing together with my wife Lorena to be able to see our own children grow and be an integral part of the Jewish community in the Boston area. I especially love when Mikey and David play music or sing together with me at services. It makes me so proud.

We love to spend time together as a family biking, playing tennis, playing soccer and watching tv shows and movies. Our favorite sport to watch in America though is Formula 1 racing.

My wedding with Lorena, My son Mikey’s Bar Mitzvah and coming to the United states of America leaving behind family, friends, language and culture were the most defining moments of my life.
