Temple Emanuel Sisterhood is now an active team of the Newton Community Freedge. The Freedge is sponsored by the Newton Food Pantry, local supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, and community organizations (like Sisterhood) who work together to provide free food to those in need at a central spot in Nonantum. It is truly a community effort.

Our team will be responsible for collecting food from the source (e.g., Wegman's, Tatte, etc.) and delivering it to the Freedge on alternating Tuesdays (essentially twice/month). The pick-ups/drop-offs are scheduled throughout the day, so you are likely to find a “shift” that fits into your schedule. You can sign up for one or more shifts/one or more dates, depending on your availability.

All Temple Emanuel members are invited to participate!

Please email Sandy Cohn Thau or Meredith Verdone if you would like to be involved in the Freedge project in any way. For more information about the Newton Community Freedge, please click here!
