Our Philosophy

The Temple Emanuel Preschool (ages 15 months – 5 years) prides itself on offering a quality, nurturing, and dynamic learning environment for children. At the core of our educational philosophy, we strive to be the best we can be every day. Our program believes in meeting children where they are and using thematic curriculum that is age appropriate and meaningful. We use hands and project-based learning as a model to teach and encourage children to be prepared to “get messy and have fun”! Our educators think outside the box with the child as a whole learner. Our curriculum has academic components but also time for social and emotional growth and development. Kindness is a hallmark of our program, and teaching kindness is important to us.

As the only Conservative synagogue in Newton with a preschool, we are fully committed to a Judaica program that helps children learn about the Jewish part of their world and life. The customs and traditions of Shabbat and the holidays are experienced through the young child’s senses. Family participation is encouraged. An atmosphere of belonging is created through which the children and their families experience the joyfulness of Judaism.

We are proud to be ranked #1 Choice for Daycare/Preschool in Newton and Gold Regional for the towns of Newton, Needham and Wellesley by Wicked Local Reader’s Choice Awards for the second year in a row!
