We are thrilled that you are considering becoming a part of our Temple Emanuel community.
Temple Emanuel is a Conservative, fully egalitarian congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts. With a membership of over 1,200 families, it represents a diversity of Jews from Newton and surrounding communities. With a broad spectrum of religious, cultural, social & educational activities, there are many reasons that Temple Emanuel is a pillar of the community for Jews in the area.
Joining a synagogue is more than becoming a member. It is truly joining in a shared journey with a kehillah k’doshah, a sacred community. It is our members and the myriad of connections among and between them that make our community so special. We encourage you to reach out and meet the many unique and diverse people who are part of our kehillah k’doshah. Young or old, married or single, with children or not, this is a place where you can feel you belong and we hope you too will find your place.
The Seven Gates of Temple Emanuel encourage everyone to find a place in our Synagogue. Whatever your passion, whatever inspires you, it is here. All you have to do is enter and engage on your own terms.
People join a synagogue for many reasons. Our seven gates are symbolic of our commitment to creating opportunities for everyone to find a way in. Whether through services, concerts, adult education, youth engagement, supporting Israel, or social action, we are interested in helping you to deepen your relationship with Judaism. Temple Emanuel offers countless programs to enrich lives, deepen faith, and build connections. The goal of the Clergy, Staff, and Lay Leaders is to help enable you to engage with the community, explore your interests, and suggest opportunities for involvement in the synagogue.
We come to pray, we come to study; we come to support each other, in simchas and in sorrow. We want our children to come here, too, to ensure a vibrant Jewish future. We encourage you to “use” the synagogue to its fullest.
Watch and listen to our members as they talk about how they each have found their inspiration, Voices of Temple Emanuel.
We look forward to getting to know you and invite you to contact our President, Stuart Cole with any questions or for additional information. You may also download a Membership Application when you are ready to join us!
