April 4 – Berthe Morisot

Led by Carolyn Melbye

Berthe Morisot (1841-1895) was a French female Impressionist painter who recently has been of greater interest among art historians and art appreciators for her innovations in painting. Born to a wealthy family, she could afford art school and training at the Louvre in Paris. Her outdoor paintings capture people in leisurely activities as well as floral paintings in which you can almost ‘smell the roses.’ Join us to learn about Morisot and enjoy several of her paintings.

Carolyn Melbye has a BFA with a concentration in ceramics. After college she worked in the art collections field. A few years later, she became aware of the power of art to heal, and pursued her MA in expressive arts therapies. She counsels primarily adults and older adults, creates artwork for self-expression, and presents on art history. Carolyn is passionate about sharing her interests in looking at art, and exploring how it can more deeply connect us to our past, to others, and ourselves.
