Special Pre-Passover Memorial Ceremony

April 21 @ 10:30 am - 11:15 am

Passover celebrates the conversation among the generations: parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren. The special Haftarah from the prophet Malakhi on Shabbat Hagadol imagines that it will be a great day of the Lord when the hearts of parents and children are reconciled.

But what about our generations who are not here with us physically anymore? How do we stay in dialogue with our departed loved ones? How do we show them, and ourselves, and our children, that we still remember them, we still love them, we still miss them, we still think about them?

Please join us for a special memorial service on Sunday morning, April 21, the day before the first seder, at the Temple Emanuel Memorial Park at 10:30 am. We will gather together on these hallowed grounds. We will offer prayers and songs of love. We will invite people to share memories and vignettes of their loved ones whom we recall lovingly this day. Elias will sing El Moleh Rachamim. We will say Kaddish together. And then everyone will be invited to put a stone on their loved one’s monument—that classic Jewish gesture that says: I still remember and love you, and I always will as long as I am alive.
