TE Connects: Does Our Jersey Wholly Determine How We See the World? Should it?

December 4, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

On Sunday morning, we are doing a special zoom class which marinates on this question: is it okay that our jersey determines how we see the world? Is there no objective truth to be had? All of us wear our jerseys. Do our jerseys limit what we see, and what we say about what we see? Should they?

This very issue is electric today, in America and in Israel.

In America: January 6 is sedition and insurrection (blue jersey), or January 6 is patriotism and taking back our country (red jersey).

In Israel: Ben Gvir is a nativist, racist, xenophobe. Ben Gvir is exactly what the Jewish state needs now to defend itself from wanton, deadly, ongoing, murderous terrorism, death and violence.

On Sunday we are going to examine ancient texts and modern headlines that surface this vexing and urgent question. I hope we can emerge with tools that can help us interpret our ever-confusing world where the same person is judged by some to be a freedom fighter and by others to be a terrorist.

This class is part of our TE Connects project, and at the end of the class, we will invite learners who want to continue to do this kind of robust small-group learning and community building to form new, vibrant groups.

Join us on Zoom HERE!
