Come Home to Temple Emanuel!

A Jewish Community for a Better You and a Better World.

Temple Emanuel is a Conservative, fully egalitarian congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts.  We are proud to be a vibrant, thriving, diverse congregation that’s committed to the beauty and power of Judaism, in a community where you can be your true self.

We celebrate diversity, offer innovative Jewish programming, and are deeply committed to cultivating a relationship with Judaism that is meaningful and relevant to you.  We are proud to welcome the membership and participation of interfaith couples and families, as well as people of every ability, background, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and socio-economic status.

The Seven Gates of Temple Emanuel encourage everyone to find a place in our Synagogue. Whatever your passion, whatever inspires you, it is here. All you have to do is enter and engage on your own terms.

We welcome you to come as you are.

We look forward to welcoming you into our community!

A Greeting From Our President

I am delighted to welcome you to our Temple Emanuel community. Temple Emanuel has been our family’s spiritual home for more than 40 years. After all this time, I continue to be amazed at how many wonderful people we know, how many friends we’ve made, and how many programs and activities continue to engage us. I believe this is because of our members and amazing Clergy, because of the many connections between us that make our community so special. We encourage you to reach out and make new friends and participate in the wonderfully diverse programs and events that we offer. Young, not so young, married or single, parents or not, Temple Emanuel is a place for everyone to feel at home.

People join a synagogue for a variety of reasons. Our Seven Gates are symbolic of our commitment to creating opportunities for everyone to find a way to belong. Whether you attend daily minyan or Shabbat services, take an adult education course, support Israel, engage in social action, or connect with our youth, we want you to find your spiritual place. Temple Emanuel offers numerous programs to enrich lives, deepen faith and build connections. We come to pray, to study, and to support each other both in times of joy and sorrow. We want our children to come here too, to ensure a vibrant Jewish future. Our wonderful Clergy, Staff and Lay Leadership are here to support you and help you explore your personal interests so that you can utilize the synagogue, your synagogue, to its fullest.

Personally, participating in Temple Emanuel life has been a uniquely gratifying experience. When I walk into the shul on a Tuesday morning for the weekly Sisterhood Study Group or return on any given evening for a meeting or event, I feel right at home. I hope you will enjoy that special feeling as well.

The Clergy, Staff and I look forward to getting to know you and we encourage you to reach out to us for help, to answer any questions or just to say hello. Please know that we are always here for you.

Most Sincerely,
Mady Donoff, President

Temple Emanuel is honored to be a Synagogue Partner of the Ruderman Synagogue Inclusion Project (RSIP), working to create a community where people of all abilities are welcomed, valued equally and able to participate fully. Being a RSIP Synagogue Partner will connect Temple Emanuel with the resources, expertise, and training in order to be a more welcoming synagogue.

“We hope our partnership with the Ruderman Synagogue Inclusion Program will accomplish two worthy goals. One, it will allow us to do right by all the persons who enter our community. Two, whatever we learn, we are happy to share with other synagogues and communal organizations in Greater Boston. Together, may all of us in Jewish communal life seek, find and respond to the Tzelem Elohim, the image of God, that is in every one of us.”
